Anna
Longo’s works are inspired by a unique place where history, art and
nature are beautifully combined: Venice.
All
of Anna’s paintings – including her floral works – are close-up
views that isolate details. These details have been torn from their
context, fragments which examine reality close-up, in a parallel
dimension.
Her
paintings are an invitation to observe our surroundings without
‘stepping back’ too far: being in close proximity to objects allows
us to see a complete and complex world.
By
painting water, a moving and elusive element, Anna aims to express the
ambivalence of the graphic abstraction and the tangible qualities of the
subject, aiming to balance the two values.
This
is why, in her painted scenes, Anna always includes a recognizable,
iconographic element: it is in the equilibrium between forces that the
true objective of her works (and her way of living) resides: it is
always firmly rooted in the real world.
